The bowls are small and great for my cat, however, I sit her regular bowls in the metal bowl and they are raised so no ants can get to her food and water!

Very impressed, I might find 1 ant every once in a while...but totally different from having to three out food bc of ants...
I feed a managed colony of cats (all neutered and vaccinated), and it's disgusting when ants get into the bowls. These bowls are PERFECT. For one thing, they are metal. Plastic bowls get tiny scratches that trap bacteria. Metal is much more sanitary, and durable. And they definitely keep the ants out! Just make sure the sides are not in contact with anything, and that the surface underneath doesn't have debris or anything on it that would allow the ants to bridge the gap. If you do that, the ants will *not* get in. I've been using them daily for at least a year and I love them. And the cats seem happy with them, too.
Love this food bowl!!! You need to know that it needs to be freestanding and not up against a wall or against anything ants can crawl up on. If you do that, it works beautifully!!! I had one years ago that was plastic band this stainless one is so much easier to clean and to stay odor free. I would recommend this bowl to anyone but especially for use with your outdoor animals.
The only pet bowls I use for my barnyard felines. They donโt tip, donโt slip, and keep ants at bay! Hooray!
I have used ant proof dishes for years so I know that nothing can touch the sides/bottom of the dish or the ants will use that to gain entry. This is my first metal purchase and I am very happy with it. It looks great and is easy to clean and dry. I bought two (4 cup dishes) and they will serve my 6 kitties well.
